There and back again

Dear Diary . . .

This will be a fairly short entry, but I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their help this last week, whether financial or emotionally! I must say that I was REALLY off on my estimate, it ended up costing more than anticipated, but thanks to everyone's generosity, I had just enough to get there, stay in a hotel for one night, and then get home. I even got to eat along the way! Whoo Hoo!

I was fortunate in my choice of car, the Sebring managed to average about 29.5 MPG, which helped immensely with the fuel costs. I also overestimated my driving abilities, I keep forgetting that this arse is getting nearer to 50 than I'd like to admit! I simply don't rebound like I used to, and it took me much longer to get everything packed for the return trip than I had anticipated.

But all's well that ends better, and I managed to get that car packed to the gills! When we got everything unloaded into my living room, none of us could believe that it had all fit into the car! And I will say that while it was sweet of Zipper to serenade me, there were definitely times on the way back that I had serious thoughts of catticide! I think it was only the thought that all of you had contributed to keep him alive and well that stayed my hand!

But it was a near thing at about 3am early Saturday morning.

Zipper was definitely unamused by this broad who came into his home, made it look like a shambles, and then, in the final indignity, shoved him into a little box and left him there for hours and hours! But I must say that he has forgiven me now, mostly because I brought him to his daddy, not to mention that he now lives in the earthly form of Cat Heaven!

Last night, he let he pet him, and he actually purred! Once he got over the shock of being in a new place, he has made himself right at home, and I think he is really happy.

There is one thing though, we are putting him on the "Tombstone Diet". When he got here, he weighed about 14.5 pounds, which is at least 3-4 pounds too many! I figure that he will lose it naturally in the next month, just because he has something to do besides sit in a window at watch the world.

Heck, even his daddy is losing weight! I think he's lost about 10 pounds so far, and since Tombstone is such a great place to walk around, I'll wager he will lose even more before the summer ends.

Time for me to sleep, I am still trying to catch up on my rest, and I really need to go to bed. Thank you again to everyone for your well-wishes, and just FYI, I made it there and back without any tickets! Whoo Hoo! Nighty Night!
