Neko
Dear Diary . . .
Well, it's been an interesting time, hasn't it? I am hoping that all is well with Terry, I no longer have unlimited calling, so I can't just sit and chat with him. I do hope that someone else out there is able to do that. I think this is the first time that someone I know online has passed away.
Then again, there may have been others who quietly disappeared, and we all thought nothing of it, just another person who stopped posting...when in reality they have gone to the great JournalCon in the sky.
OK enough of that. Here's what's been happening on the days that I've been able to function. Last Thursday, Curiouoso and some friends came down for a visit, I wasn't exactly the hostess with the mostess, since I was hurtin' big time.
Then on Friday, I was getting ready to go do the show at Kate's when I got a last-minute call from my boss telling me that he had secured a gig for me, which was certainly a good thing, since otherwise I wouldn't have had the money for my electric bill. The problem was that I was in costume, with my hair pulled into a knot so I could wear my wig, and I could only spend about 5 minutes on a change of clothes!
I do not know how I managed it, but by golly I took off the wig, curled my hair, took off my outer clothes but left my corset and pantaloons, threw on a skirt and shirt, and I was out the door running. I was still 30 minutes late for my gig, but it wasn't my fault.
There were virtually no singers, so I had to sing most of the night! Then, when it was time to pack it up, the bartender got a call from some of the members asking me to stay longer, that they were on their way...cripes! As it turned out, I sang the last song at 2:03am that night! But they certainly made it worth my while, so I was happy.
The funny thing was that I had been talking to Kaj earlier, telling him that I was hurting so much that it was a relief that I wouldn't have to do a show that night! Then I end up doing a double show almost! I find it amazing that I can scrape together enough Oomph to do what I have to do. So what if I collapse afterward!
It was Josh's birthday on Sunday, so we had a nice long chat and I e-mailed him his birthday card, then after I took the equipment back and went to the grocery store, I took the remainder of the day to rest.
Monday, well, Monday wasn't a good day, was it? And yesterday I took care of a bunch of little things that I had let slide for too long. So now I'm hoping that tomorrow will be a bright new day, and I will get my new website up and running, and get some costume making done.
Yeah. And monkeys will fly out my ass, too! At least the pain is subsiding, I really don't know what the hell is causing it, though moving 500 pounds of sound equipment 3 times a night isn't helping things any. I need to get stock in ibuprofen.
Anyway, things are still looking good for all of the competitions, and I will be making a website that will have all of the details so everyone can cheer me on if they want to. Meanwhile, Hobbes is insisting that I come to bed, and I'm inclined to listen to him.
And hey, if y'all didn't know it already, I love you guys!
Actually, go to this vid, it's awesome, but I couldn't embed it. Ronan Keating-If Tomorrow Never Comes
And yeah, I know it's a Garth Brooks song, but I like Ronan's video better!
