Dear Diary . . .

I've been kind of waiting around the last couple of weeks for something to happen, something that I THOUGHT would have happened about a week and a half before it actually took place. OK, I'll stop being obtuse and tell almost all.

A month ago I received a notice from the court handling my divorce saying that the Evil one had failed to follow through on filing the paperwork for the final dissolution, and it was now up to me to do so. As some of you know, this occasioned my questioning whether filing this was in my best interest or not.

After agonizing over it for days, I finally decided to go ahead and get it all over with, mostly because if I DIDN'T file, we would go back to square one, and the Evil one could then legally come onto the property, since the only thing stopping him was the current, albeit temporary court decree.

There was also the factor of wanting to be done with the asshole once and for all...especially since this has dragged out for almost 5 and a half years.

So I buckled down and got the paperwork filled out, copied in quadruplicate, one copy mailed to the ex with proof of mailing, and filed with the court...all in a surprisingly timely manner for me.

And then I waited. I thought it was going in front of the judge on the 18th, but apparently it didn't go until the 27th, which is why it took longer than expected to receive confirmation.

But when all is said and sifted, as of the 27th of August, 2009, I am no longer married to the Evil, Child Molesting, Rat Bastard from hell.

Can I get a Hallelujah!?? Honestly, I would love to go out tomorrow night and just get plowed outta my mind in celebration, but I can't afford to. Dammit! It just seems so right to do, especially since celebrating on Thursdays at karaoke figure so heavily in this saga.

But I am so grateful to be finally released from that marriage; even though it was really over years ago, legally I was still bound. Now I get to go change my passport, my driver's license, and all of the other forms and accounts which bear my old, hated name.

So there you have it, why I've been kind of silently poised on the brink, so to speak.

As for the contest in Laughlin, I may have to give that up, as I simply haven't been able to raise the needed funds to pay for my travel expenses and my entry fees. Oh well, everything happens as it is supposed to, and I just have to trust that the future holds something even better in store.

So there's the much anticipated update with the happiest news I've had in 5 years.

Oh, and my oldest daughter is now an Auntie. Her half-sister just gave birth last week to a daughter. Now, when she sent me a text with the baby's name, I responded that I couldn't believe that she had named her child that.

Now let me ask you, would you name your child in this day and age Evelyn?
To me, it went out with Mildred and Ethel. Let me hear your opinion, O great and wise ones of Diaryland!
